Garlic Butter: 4 cloves garlic, chopped; 1 bunch flat leaf Italian parsley, chopped; 1 bunch fresh chives, chopped

1 large or 2 small shallots chopped; 2 tablespoons olive oil; 1 teaspoon kosher salt; 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper; Pinch of red pepper flakes or ¼ teaspoon of Calabrian chile paste; ½ pound unsalted butter softened (2 sticks)

Steven J. Sandage, Ph.D., LP, is Albert and Jessie Danielsen Professor of Psychology of Religion and Theology at Boston University where he has faculty appointments in the School of Theology and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and teaches couple and family therapy. He is also Research Director and Senior Staff Psychologist at the Albert & Jessie Danielsen Institute in Boston, where he practices as a Licensed Psychologist specializing in couple and family therapy. He is the co-author/co-editor of seven books, and his research is currently funded by the John Templeton Foundation.
